Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is performed in selected patient with carotid stenosis groups to pre-vent stroke. Symptomatology and degree of stenosis are the main clinical consideration to perform CEA. However, many patients undergo surgery without adequate evaluation of individual risk. There is therefore a need for new adjuncts to identify high-risk subgroups of patients who particularly bene-fit from potentially hazardous interventions. Rapid progress in non-invasive ultrasound techniques has resulted in a wide variety of clinical applications for the assessment of cerebrovascular diseases. With increasing knowledge of ultrasound methodology, it becomes promising tools, which is safe and easy to perform. Journal of Neurosonology 1(1):29-32, 2009
